Adult Recognition - Jerusalem Cross

About this Recognition:
The Jerusalem Cross is awarded to Scouting
in the Catholic Church (SitCC) participants who return to their
dioceses and complete a mission project benefiting Catholic youth
of their community. The cross is placed on the leather thong received
during the SitCC conference. Each day the participants received
a colored bead to represent the day's component.

Purpose:
To recognize the recipient's outstanding contribution to
the development of Catholic youth in the program of the Boy Scouts of
America following the completion of Scouting in the Catholic Church (SitCC)
at the Philmont Training Center.
Requirements:
- Participate in the Scouting
in the Catholic Church conference program
- Develop and deliver a mission project benefiting Catholic youth of
your community. Focus the project on one of these components:
St. Matthew: Leadership Development, Advocacy
St. Mark: Evangelization
St. Luke: Pastoral Care, Justice, Service
St. John: Prayer and Worship, Community Life
- Upon project completion, submit a description of your project with
three letters of testimony:
- A letter from you evaluating yourself and your mission.
- A letter from an ecclesiastic representative of your parish or
diocese.
- A letter from someone who benefited due to your mission.
- Find the name of the current NCCS Training Chair on the NCCS website and send an
email explaining you have completed your mission project and requesting
their mailing address.
- Send your documentation and a check for $15 payable to NCCS to the
Training Chair.
The participant has two years from the end of the conference to complete
the requirements. Documentation should be sent to the NCCS Training Chair
by March 1 to receive the cross at the Annual meeting.
Award Ceremony:
The Jerusalem Cross is awarded at the NCCS Annual Meeting held in April
of each year. Recipients unable to attend the annual meeting will receive
the Jerusalem Cross through his/her local Diocesan Catholic Committee
on Scouting for presentation.
The Jerusalem Cross is also awarded to the Scouting in the Catholic Church
conference staff at the beginning of their conference.
NOTE: The Jerusalem Cross
recipients are not eligible to receive the BSA Adult religious knot.
