Brendan the Navigator

Background:

The St. Brendan Award -used to recognize Diocesan Committee Development participants who return to their dioceses and complete a mission project benefiting Catholic youth of their community.

Eligibility:

Scouters who participated in the Diocesan Committee Development Conference may earn the Saint Brendan the Navigator Cross to add to the four beads received during the course. The requirements are noted below. The Saint Brendan the Navigator Cross is awarded to recipients at the NCCS Annual and the NCCS Biennial meetings held shortly after Easter. Those unable to attend these gatherings may receive the Saint Brendan the Navigator Cross through his/her local ecclesiastical authority for presentation. The Saint Brendan the Navigator Cross is not a BSA-recognized adult religious emblem and the recipient is not eligible to wear the BSA adult religious knot for earning this award.

Requirements

Develop and deliver a mission project that serves the needs of your parish youth ministry or (arch)diocesan Catholic Scouting community. Your project is to be chosen from one of the following four areas:

Bead Color Component
Brown Direction - DCCOS Mission and Vision
Yellow Ark - Structure and Formation
White Shipwright - Recruiting Leadership
Blue Navigation - Diocese and Unit Excellence

HOW TO APPLY:

Upon project completion:

  1. Please submit this application along with a $15 check/money order (payable to NCCS)
  2. Please provide a detailed description of your mission project

In order to receive recognition at the April NCCS annual or biennial meeting, send this application, your payment, and project description. All required material must be received by no later than March 1. Send to:
